My Art Book: Animals Giveaway

Toward the end of last year I was approached by DK Publishing to contribute to an upcoming book of children's art projects with animal themes. I love all of the DK titles, and find them especially wonderful visual learning tools for children and families. Needless to say, I was thrilled to be a part of it, and was honored to write the foreword for the upcoming release: My Art Book: Animals.

To pay it forward I am giving away a copy of My Art Book: Animals to three of my followers! Please leave a comment on this post letting me know what your favorite animal is and why. And please make sure I have a way to reach you via email. I will also be posting my experiences with some of the projects from the book soon.

The 3 winners will be chosen on April 25th, 2012 by random drawing, and announced in a future post. Good luck on winning this title to add to your library!

Congratulations! How exciting!
My favorite animal currently would have to be owls and birds. I am having a lot of fun using them in my artwork. I have no idea why I love them so much. Maybe it is the bright colors!

Wow. What a great opportunity to contribute to a book. I wouldn't say it is my favorite, but I have a soft spot for rhinos.

What an honor!
For art projects, my favorite animals are fish. There are so many varieties, with different colors, textures, shapes, etc. in my personal life, definitely cats.

Congrats to you on being included in the book! I gravitate towards birds in my art lessons - peacocks, owls, hummingbirds ect.. I find that they are a great subject matter for a wide age range. But in general, dogs are definitely my favorite animal. I don't know what I would do without my 2 lovable mutts! :) Thanks for the opportunity!

Congrats on the book! I would say that my favorite animal might be the hedgehog. I love their cute little faces...and my tuxedo cat Marty--he's pretty cool. He's been the subject in a few pieces of art made by me and my family.

First of all, you rock! What an awesome opportunity to be published AND asked to write the forward? Doesn't get much better than that. I would love to receive a copy, so here goes:

My favorite animal is a horse. They are majestic creatures with huge liquid eyes that seem to see right in to your soul. They are huge, yet gentle and their lips when you feed them carrots or apples, feel like velvet!

That is so cool! Congratulations!
My favorite animal is a duck. Probably. I have lots of favorites. If you want me to get really specific, I love the colors of Mandarin Ducks. :)

Congrats! I don't know if I can pick just one favorite! I love birds. I like to pick unusual animals the kids don't draw all the time like chameleons and bush babies.

Congratulations! I have to put my vote in for owls. They are so wise, and their big eyes are fun to play up in works of art.

I have always preferred the Tiger. I had an invisible tiger for a friend, through 5th grade. He used to ride on top of the car with me to school, his tail hanging down the windshield.

But now, in real life, I'm more partial to ducks.

Thanks everyone, these comments have been so fun to read! Katie, my father raises birds and we had a pair of Mandarin ducks when I was a child. Oh, and I just wanted to put in my two cents. My favorite animal is the panda. I love their coloring, their mystery, and that they are a symbol for endangered species. Keep posting everyone!

HI Renee --

Thank you for your kind words on my blog...I'm sorry I didn't reply directly but I've not figured that out yet. I guess it's the gelatin karma, I'm cursed ;) To answer your questions, I used cheapo manilla paper and black construction paper for the prints. I also used water based inks for the printing. I hope that helps. Love your blog(s) by the way! Thank you for checking mine out :) Cassie

Thanks for doing this giveaway! :) My favorite animal is platypus - the living proof that God/evolution/whoever has a sense of humor. It's a mammal that has no nipples but has a venomous spur on its ankle, and locates its prey through electroreception. Besides, it looks absolutely adorable. :^D

If I win, my email is grigory99 at yahoo dot com

I missed the deadline but just so you know, my favorite animal for art this the opossum. Hideous and cute at the same time. My 8 yr old has an adorable stuffed opossum.
And, of course, schnauzers.
By the way, how cool are you? Congrats on the book!!!
